I was skeptical - now I am a believer Nov 07, 2010
By Marianne Fletcher As Vizio products had the reputation for being the 'WalMart' of electronics, I was skeptical to try this router. I did some homework and found that others who had tried it were Very satisfied with it's performance. What better endorsement than that of a fellow user? So, since the price was Half that of the Cisco comparable - why not give it a shot. I had been using a Netgear wireless G and was having no problems. When I added a Sony HD TV and BluRay player, set up for wireless -- I began to have some stalls and 'waiting to catch up' times - especially on Netflix HD feeds. This Vizio dedicated the to 5.4 band Just for the HD video feed and has performed better than I Ever hoped. Set-up was Out of the Box to Working in less than 10 mins. The interface is Easy to use. All my devices (3 PCs - 2 iTouch - and a Sony Dock - in addition to the TV) recognized and accepted the device immediately. I would buy one again, and definitly recommend this to anyone wanting to watch HD streaming TV.

Fantastic router for simple home networking and streaming Jan 24, 2011
By Tony G. I purchased this Vizio router to replace a trusty old Linksys WRT54G that I've been using for almost 8 years. While the G router had been great and reliable, I was starting to get serious bandwidth issues when trying to perform multiple high-bandwidth activites at once in the house (wife streaming Netflix to Blu-ray player upstairs, kids gaming online downstairs, me hosting LiveMeeting conference through VPN, etc). Only a few of my components even support N, but the ones that do typically need the highest bandwidth. In my network we have connected: 4 pc's, macbook, xbox 360, wii, playstation3, ipad touch, TiVo, blu-ray player, A/V receiver, 3 smart phones (Android and iPhone), and 2 printers. I had been waiting for the right dual-band router to come along, and this Vizio router finally fit the bill of price, features, and convenience. Set-up was very easy and straightforward, and within 30 minutes I had both my G(2.4ghz) and N(5ghz) networks up and most components connected to it. Now I can stream movies and play games on the N network, while all our pc's, phones, printers, and other devices are on the G network. One other great feature that I discovered is that media sharing crosses over between both networks, so you can share media between devices running either N or G! I have my new desktop/media-server connected to the N(5ghz) network, yet my network-enabled A/V receiver (connected via wi-fi adapter to the G network) can still recognize the computer and stream music from it. So far the router has upheld great speeds and great range throughout the entire house. I have not had any issues with signal dropping or losing connections. Highly recommended! ****Update 2/17/11***** The router worked great for about 3 weeks, then suddenly I started having significant range and connection problems for any of my networked components more than a few feet away from the router. I noticed this was particularly bad in the evenings when I would see many other neighboring wireless networks popping up in the scan for local networks. After first fearing that I too may have gotten a defective unit, I did a little research online and realized that changing a few default settings related to channels may help. I first went in an changed the network settings from mixed to N-only (5ghz) and G-only (2.4ghz) since I really didn't have any B or A wireless devices to suppport. Secondly, and most importantly, I went in and changed the default channel settings for both networks. Originally I had both channels set to 'auto', but I changed the channel width on them both to be 20mhz, and then I made sure to select different standard channels for each. Voila - great range and connection speeds were restored! The router has been working great for the past week since I changed these settings with no further issues.

Easy set up, good price, vizo hits a home run. Oct 17, 2010

This was the easiest router I've ever set up. The directions are simple to follow. The entire directions are step by step in big letters and have good digrams/pictures to help you along and its only two laminated cards 5x10 inches. It seems that Vizo made it for the common guy with not alot of computer knowlege. I was up and running in about ten minutes (install, laptop, 2 PS3's and Itouch). Not a computer geek, but it broadcast in 802.11 a/h, 802.11g/n and 802.11b. My laptop, itouch and PS3 immediatley reconized the 802.11g/n and took the security key (WPA) that was given with the setup paperwork and is operating at 2.4HGz. There's three security keys given with the directions, so if your device reconizes the router, you can just input a key until the right one is input. I belive that the 802.11a/h (WPA2 security key) would only work for new faster devices. Again, this was easy to set up and is faster than my old router. I could only imagine how fast it is if I had a device that worked on the 802.11a/h signal (5GHz). I would definatley buy this product again. I test ran an HD movie using Netflix on my PS3 via the wirless connection and it downloaded the movie very nicely. My old router was basically usless for Netflix via a wireless connection becasue of it slow speed. Vizo hit it out of the park with this one and its well under one hundred dollars. I will definatley get one and install it at my girlfreinds house.

Very good router ! Nov 07, 2010
By Val This router replaced D-Link DIR-655 and right away I stopped loosing connection once every 20 min or so. Set up was a breeze. Also coverage is greater since my Samsung led tv has no problem connect to it and stay connected .

VIZIO XWR100 Dual-Band HD Wireless Internet Router Mar 24, 2011
By F. T. Lakutis

I have installed quite a few wireless routers in my day, but never one that was up and running so quickly. I think from the time I plugged it in, to the time it was connected to the internet was about 90 seconds and all without a glitch. Here are a couple of other neat things I've noticed.
1. The router is dual band, which means as long as you purchase equipment that is able to function at 5 Ghz (Blu Ray wiFi)you can operate your computer on the lower band and your video streaming on the upper band. All video streaming is also prioritized.
2. There is a connection speed test that is integrated into the router. This is great if you have a non-mainstream internet provider like me and they claim to be providing a certain speed and aren't. It gives you something to beat them over the head with in getting what you were promised.
3. Includes parental controls. Don't want kids on the internet at midnight from their smartphone or computer? Just set it up.
4. So far the wireless signal has been great. The Netgear router I upgraded from had some issues with that.
5.The routers menu scheme is very intuitive and easy to navigate.
So far I am very happy with this router and would recommend it highly, especially to non techie types. I think my next purchase will be the Vizio WiFi blu-ray to see if I can eliminate some of that Direct TV bill.
Hope this helped.
