Not exactly what I expected Sep 03, 2007
By J. Getter Like another reviewer, I had been comparing similar sets from Pottery Barn and Restoration Hardware, but didn't want to spend that much on an outdoor set living in upstate New York. This Falkner set offered a similar design and a MUCH cheaper price, so I decided to order this set with six arm chairs. While the table is great (study, solid, easy to assemble) the craftsmanship on the chairs leaves something to be desired. The aluminum on the backs of the chairs is not very straight and the welding job is horrible. I'll admit, I'm a bit of a perfectionist so I might be fussier than most. I didn't expect them to be great, but I did expect them to be slightly better than they are. My husband actually likes the look, calling it "handmade". They are otherwise comfortable until you lean back, but I think adding a back cushion or pillow will solve that problem. Despite the shotty weld job, overall, they are probably a good buy for the money and the style is fantastic. However, you may be better off waiting for end of season sales on higher end furniture.

great Jun 08, 2007
By Tim Bogert we had been looking at crate&barrel and pottery barn sets but wanted to be able to eat as well as have a patio set, so when i stumbled across these, we jumped at the chance. build quality is really sturdy (i'm 6'-9" and 225), the size is comfortable and the overall seating position is perfect for eating and hanging out. and the price is amazing. i'm really picky about things, and the only possible 'gripe' is the lack of perfect weld finishing. that doesn't implicate the build quality or longevity, it's just a touch sloppy. but 99.5% of people would never notice that. i definitely recommend the entire set.

Aluminum base is great, cushions are not Apr 08, 2008
By Love being Outdoors I bought quite a few pieces of the Strathwood Falkner outdoor furniture. I received these 2 dining arm chairs first. The good - The aluminum base of the chair is sturdy and good-looking and looks like it will last! The not so good - The color is actually a dark brown/gray color rather than black as stated. I prefer this color over black, but not good for people expecting black. The cushions are not of a heavy fabric at all and look as though they will fall apart. And they aren't nearly nice enough for the chair base. I have no problem buying all new cushions but I do wish I had known this before purchasing.

Good with a few exceptions May 07, 2011
By chloegirl The styling of this set is beautiful which you can see very clearly in the images and also very sturdy however the craftsmanship has a little to be desired. Two of the four chairs I ordered have a little chip in the painted finish and I wonder if that will cause the paint to bubble and peel down the line. The metal itself, where it curves, is not a nice smooth curve, in some areas it appears to be dented but then when you look closely at it, no, it's just the way it was created.
The cushions feel a little cheesey though, I don't know how to describe it and the color is not beige, it's like a very light creamy yellow so I cancelled the umbrealla on back order and will most likely go buy all new cushions with a matching umbrella elsewhere.
Overall I'm happy with the set for the price. It's very comparable in look to sets that cost way more and the tradeoff seems worth it.

Love these, BUT Apr 18, 2009
By Cuisinemom I bought the two-seater lounge, two chairs with ottomans, the dining table, 4 armless dining chairs and 2 dining chairs with arms. I love all of it and it looks great but there is one major problem. After 2 seasons the finish on the arms of several pieces is bubbling up and cracking off, exposing the aluminum underneath. We have used the pieces in a normal fashion - no excessive wear and tear that should cause this type of problem. I'm hoping the remaining pieces will hold up OK. The other downside to this furniture is the pillow are a bit difficult to keep clean, and because the table is slatted, things fall through a lot. I'm thinking of getting a plexiglass top for it. But other than the problem with the finish, I really love the furniture.
