 Tips for the right & left section Jun 29, 2007

I purchased right, left and center pieces for the set. I found out that the left and right piece is identical (you could rotate 90 degree to make it either way). Therefore, you can purchase 2 left or 2 right and saved you $$$ when the price is not the same. I saved $40 by complaining to amazon when I found out this (because one of the other side was $40 less).
It is a good looking set of outdoor furniture. Nice quality and comfort. However, I wish the seat is slightly higher, kinda low for me.

Lovely pieces, low to the ground, very modern, clean lines. I've had this set for over a year now, and here are my thoughts:
- Requires a handfull of throw pillows for the back. The bigger and more, the better.
- I would recommend putting additional wood protector on the wooden legs as they are subject to fading. I've oiled these and it helps a little.
- The cushions do get dirty, but the easiest way I've found to clean them is to spray them down with a hose, a light soapy solution and a scrub brush. You could also try one of those spray-on waterproofing deals to see if that helps. These are not totally weatherproof cushions. If you are handy you could make slip covers pretty easily.
- The plastic (polyethylene) wicker has held up very well. Note that it is not PVC (polyvinyl chloride, a very toxic plastic in its manufacturing), which was a big reason I bought these. Technically Polyethylene (PE) is recyclable, so you may be able to recycle many parts of the thing at the end of its life versus throwing it out.
- Durable. Will last a long time with care. May need to make seat covers after a few years.
Overall I love this sectional set. It is unique and much more affordable than other versions I've seen out there. Highly recommended, just beware that you'll need extra cushions and will have to periodically clean the seat cushions.

Love this All Weather Sofa Set! Jun 04, 2007

I bought 3 pieces of this sofa set: the left lounger, the right lounger and the center seat. I have not seen anything like it anywhere else. I love that it's all-weather. The cushions are not "all-weather", but the detail description of the item clearly states that. They clean up very easily. There is only one thing I would have done differently with this set. That is to make the seats a little higher. They do sit low to the floor. I'm not sure why many patio seats are designed that way. But it is a very nice quality set. It looks great and works well in my enclosed patio room.

Okay. Here's the skinny on this set of outdoor furniture because I think online shoppers should know what they are in for before they make such a big purchase.
The overall quality is good for the money, HOWEVER, this is not comparable to Restoration Hardware's outdoor wicker as some of the other reviewers indicate. Here's the difference: #1 comfort. This pieces don't have any kind of angled backs, so you sit virtually upright, and there are no back cushions. #2 completely inadequate cushions for outdoor use. You will have to replace these cushions with custom-made Sunbrella cushions. Price them out on the net first ([...]). There are no backs, so you will want to order those as well. Expect to pay $300 for the left and right sections, and $200 for the center. #3 The style is boxy, which is okay if you are looking for a modern look. And the wicker is one color, not two-toned like Restorations.
All-in-all, I wished I had spent a little extra and gone with Restorations stuff, which on sale is only slightly more than less and whole lot more attractive. I would return, except I have to pay the return freight ($300 in my case.)
I guess you really do get what you pay for.

I purchased both the left and right sectional sofa seat as well as the center seat to create my outdoor living space. The furniture is sturdy. Price is great as I have seen pieces of similar quality at a local retail store for much more. I am very pleased with the look and quality.
