2Flimsey Base  Aug 26, 2010
We purchased this for our son two Christmas's ago or 20 months. The backboard is thin, but worked fine for our 11 year old. He also had no trouble adjusting the height which was great. Moving it around was fairly easy when needed but it pretty much sat in the same place in the backyard. I remember it taking a couple hours to put together. We have enjoyed this basketball hoop....but...

The base of the basketball hoop started to crack about 5 months ago...not a problem then but when the ball would hit the base in the right spot, the base would crack a little more. Now it is cracked all around and doesn't hold water. We called the company and asked if we could purchase a new one last month. They sold us a new one for a little less than $50 but it is backlogged till November. We must not be the only ones with this problem. Our friends have the same hoop and they are getting cracks in it now, but not as bad as ours yet.

I love reading reviews and appreciate feedback when making a decision on a purchase. This was a good product for the price and we have got much enjoyment out of it. Maybe we just got a bad base and they had a bad mix of plastics. It should have lasted longer than it did and wanted to share that with others.

4Quite pleased  Jul 06, 2010
We purchased this for our 10 and 7-year-old children, but it gets a fair amount of use from all the neighborhood kids and dads. The set up was easy for anyone with basic experience with tools, the height adjustment works quite easily, and I've found the complaints about the "flimsy" backboard overblown. It is "flimsy" but the metal support behind it makes it function more than adequately for bank shots. I did follow the advice of filling it after I wheeled it into place and agree the wheels are on the small side.

4Looks great. hard to setup  May 20, 2010
Looks great. Nice red trim. Difficult to set up though. I took me several hours over two days. You do need alot of tools. I also don't recommend doing it alone and either with someone's help or get professionals to do it. It would have been a good idea for Amazon to have offered that option. It does go up and down easily ie my 9 year can do it. The catch is that it won't go too low. The adjustment bar is short one hole for that to happen. Furthermore, I can't vouch for it for adults slam dunking contests BUT for kids who just want to shoot hoops, it is a great deal. Overall, if you dont mind spending 6-7 hours alone setting it up, it is a good hoop system and looks nice too. By the way, it is made by Huffy.

4Its a challenge but well worth it.  Mar 29, 2010
My son who is 15 yrs old and I (his mom) put this together in about 5 hours spread out over a few days. I found the directions to be confusing. The most difficult part was putting the backboard components together. We followed the directions but it could have been clearer. I took a walk around my neighborhood and studyed the ones my neighbors had to get an idea. Once it was finished my son really enjoyed it and he likes to slam dunk so it has to be solid for that. Great product good price. Also I have to say we received it in a week.

4Reasonable to put together, final quality is good  Mar 04, 2010
I was a little nervous to put it together based on some past reviews. But a little more then 2.5 hours later, it was put together and up. It would definitely be mush easier with two people, but 1 person with the right support equipment can get it done. The final product is solid. The height slide mechanism is very easy to use. The backboard and rim quality are very good. The net is cheap, but that is the easiet piece to replace. My son has already gotten a huge amount of fun from this product. And he loves the fact that he is shooting on a "NBA" backboard.
