i bought this for my 42 inch samsung dlp tv. model # HLS4266W. i heard a noise coming from inside the tv after it got warmed up. (chirping / squeaking / crickets etc.) i read a bunch of things online that all pointed to the color wheel. the noise i heard continued for about a minute after the tv was turned off. eliminating the color wheel as the problem. your color wheel should stop moving within 2 seconds of you turning off your tv. i took the back of the tv off and turned it on so i could zero in on the noise. after the noise started i reached in stopped the lamp cooling fan with my finger and the noise stopped. bingo bango. i ordered this through amazon and got it in 3 days. (i live in WNY) i installed it the same day. it took about 30 minutes from start to finish. the tv sounds like it did the day i bought it. i would say you need to be somewhat mechanical to do this because a lot of screws have to come out and wires need to be disconnected just to get at the fan. i took a lot of pics before and during so i wouldn't mess anything up. it wasn't too bad and i'm confident in working on my tv if anything else goes bad on it. youtube has some great videos to show you what to expect with this and any other dlp project you may have. i hope this helps somebody that may have the same problem.

Used fan to fix the fan#2 error. It fixed my 50inch Samsung dlp. Had to take apart a good amount of TV. If you remove 2 screws, the whole inside of the TV slides out on a tray. It's helpful to take pictures along the way so you can reassemble with ease.

Fan #2, Problem solved! Feb 11, 2012

My Samsung HL5087W Finally died after 5 years of frequent usage. In it's final days, it was giving the "check fan 2" error. I removed the back of the tv, vacuumed it all out, and put it back together. It was only a week or two before the fan failed completely. This fan was $22 after shipping. It arrived quickly, and in a matter of 10 minutes I had it installed, and the tv was back working perfectly.

I have a 50" Samsung. I had been "kick starting" My TV for about a year by taking off the back panel and spinning the fan manually. This last time spinning it didnt help at all. I took the TV apart, ordered the fan and it came in 4 days later. Took about a minute to put the new fan in and reconnect it. Worked like a charm this was for my Check Fan #2 error.

I recieved my Samsung Lamp Cooling Fan yesterday and it was bigger than the original fan but we were still able to use it and my tv works like new! the Error Fan #1 has be fixed! that loud annoying noise has even stop. glad i came on Amazon and found what i was looking for.
