3A Dim Beauty  Jun 25, 2007
By JOEKC "JKC"
The real issue I had with this TV, which I returned, was the inability to brighten shadow areas. For those of you not familiar with LCD screens, many small ones have a very little dynamic range -- in other words, they tend to push shadow areas into total darkness. You won't notice this in the store, since most of the carefully chosen video is of bright, sunny scenes like hot air balloons and afternoon baseball.

But when you get the set home you'll notice darker scenes, especially in movies, are virtually unwatchable. I spent two days trying to adjust the brightness and contrast, but finally had to admit defeat. Now if you're just buying this for the kids to watch cartoons, you'll probably be ok. It's a beauty in a kitchen. The touch buttons on the side are also very cool. But it just didn't work in our bright kitchen. We went for the 20" Vizio which allows adjustment of the backlight (which will probably shorten its life!), and is much crisper, overall. But the Samsung sure looks cool. White TV's are rare, which makes it even more of a shame the picture was so mediocre.

5Form and Function are both wonderful!  Jun 03, 2007
By Victoria Palmer
For a 19 inch LCD HDTV, this was the best picture I saw. I went to Best Buy to compare how all the screens looked. They use Directv digital input on all their televisions, and that is what I have at home. You can not compare the clarity of a 19 inch LCD TV with a 32 inch.

This television resides in my bedroom. I have am using the stand that is attached, and have it sitting on top of a table height book case. The stand allows for tilting the screen up and down, so you can have the crispest picture from where you will be sitting. As with any LCD device, the angle at which you look at it from has a lot to do with clarity. Finding the perfect angle is well worth the few extra minutes while setting it up. The few reviews I have seen complaining about clarity might be remedied by this.

The television was very easy to set up in every way. I had my Directv DVR, dvd recorder, and Wii hooked up in minutes. The on screen menu was a snap to use. It let me name all of the components I had hooked up.

As I mentioned before, it has a beautiful stand that reminds me of an iMac. It folds back for easy wall mounting too!! I have an iBook laptop, and the white glossiness matches my television's beautiful housing. That is nice and aestetically pleasing when I want to use my television as a monitor.

I am a novice to home theater equipment, but going from a plain old school tv to this went smoothly. I am quite pleased with my purchase.

The first movie I watched on this television was Finding Nemo. It happened to be on the Disney Channel. I was absolutely blown away by how amazing the picture looked. So much so, that I called my entire family to look at the clarity and crispness.

This sounds like a small detail to add, but I love that there is a sleep timer on this tv. I like to fall asleep to movies, and the sleep timer allows me to set it up to 180 minutes or as low as 30 minutes.

I wound up purchasing this television at Best Buy. I picked it up for approximately the same price that Amazon is offering it for. I did have to pay sales tax, but I had a discount coupon for it that was 10% off. So it worked out to being about the same price. I also bought the extended warranty, because I live in South Florida, and even with surge protection I have lost a few devices over the years.

If you decided to purchase this television, you will not be disapointed. I have been pleased as punch since I purchased it.

5Better Than Expected  Sep 02, 2007
By Ed "Monz"
I was leary after reading some of the negative reviews. I purchased one to test HDTV, PS2, XBOX 360 and computer monitor. I was surprised at the quality of the product. The sound is not amazing but you never rely on the TV sound as a source of quality surround. I always put external surround speaker system. I purchased three more, one for the PS2 in the game room, one for XBOX 360 in the game room, one as computer monitor in the office and one for HD viewing in the bedroom. No problems with ghosting or that white stuff around the perimeter of the screen. No problems whatsoever. I always use quality gold connectors and surge protectors and my family and I are very happy with the results. It is a great product and amazon has the best price (I did my research). By the way I searched everywhere to find a white quality monitor to go with the theme of my gameroom and this was all I could find. Luckily it turned out to be an absolutely great product. Hope this helps.

5Excellent TV  Dec 14, 2007
By J. Dickie
My wife wanted a white TV in the kitchen of our recently purchased home. I wasn't too keen on this project since it involved running new coaxial cable through what was originally the exterior brick wall of the house, behind cabinets, and through the tile backsplash. Also, I suggested the largest TV that would fit on the counter and under the cabinets. A 23" would fit, but my wife preferred the 19". Sooooo......we now have the Samsung 19" white TV up and running in our kitchen. It is a great little TV. Turn it on, and it programs itself. All you have to do is change channels. The picture is sharp and clear. I looked carefully for haze or a border, but could not detect any problem. The audio is remarkable for a relatively small TV. Best of all, my wife is very happy with it.

4Just what expected  Aug 24, 2007
By Daniel Acosta
This is a great TV, with great image quality on both HDTV and analog sources... my only complaint is that it takes a while to turn on, and that it doesn't have an audio output besides the digital one. It was still an excellent purchase overall, but i regret not having gotten the 23" one, although this one has higher resolution. One thing to note is that this TV has a 16:10 instead of a 16:9 proportion which makes it great for using it as a computer monitor, the downside is letterboxing has to occur on almost any standard video content (which is either 16:9 or 4:3 proportioned) if you wanna see the whole image and dont want it all stretched
