Good sound, Good value Dec 11, 2011
By Sherri L. Keene
"night angel"
I was hesitant to buy this after seeing mostly below average reviews. I wanted a samsung 3D player theather system to go with the 3D Samsung LCD TV we just bought. Well, we have had it for a month now and we are very happy.
Will it play music and blow your mind? No. You better keep your expensive component stereo system. The system can't deliver the low hard hitting bass.
Will it provide impressive surround sound for your movies? Definitely yes. It enhances the movie expereince a lot, makes it very realistic. I still find myself turning my head to sounds from the side. It delivers extremely clean sound. The kids really love watching the 3D movies.
It was very easy to hook up. The self-configuration took me by suprise even though it said it would be loud. With an optical cable hooked up to the tv, any source connected to the tv can play through the theater system, including the xbox.
For the price, very well worth it. You would have to spend well over $1K to notice any improvement.

Disappointing sound; buggy Jun 04, 2011
By J. Wardein Bought this last night at another retailer. Great price and features, easy setup, but I'm returning it today. I wasn't crazy about the sound, but some tweaking might have been able to make that acceptable. The big sticking point was that it caused video and audio to frequently go out of sync. It would be fine for a while, and then I would change channels back to something I had been watching earlier, and it would suddenly be out of sync. I would turn the system off and on, and it would be back in sync. Soon enough, though, I would be flipping through channels, and another channel (or more) would get out of sync. I called Samsung to see if there were some fixes, but nothing we discussed made a difference. It never happened when watching a DVD. This is my first integrated bluray/home theater system; I hope I don't get burned on the next one.

WiFi NOT built in Jan 26, 2012
By Smitty The product information noted on the site page "from the manufacturer" is incorrect. WiFi is not built into this HTIB. There is conflicting information on the site as the technical details note 'wifi ready' however the other information on the page notes 'wifi build-in'. To connect wirelessly you need to purchase the Samsung LAN connector (sold separately of course). The product works fine for the price range however it would have been nice if the page wasn't so ambiguous with regard to the fact that the LAN adapter is needed given that was a primary reason the product was purchased.

use ARC HDMI on TV Jan 21, 2012
By BLAW I recently bought this home theater and heard(read) alot of people complaining about having to use a optical cable for sound. If you have a Samsung TV as I do or another brand that has a dedicated ARC (Audio Return Channel)HDMI input on your TV it will run your TV audio as well as your movies through a single HDMI connection, thus using only one cable and no need for a optical cable as some people think ( and isn't known to most).

So far ok, but... Jan 26, 2012
By JB639 So I got this last night, and it seems good, with a couple of exceptions:
First and foremost, it DOES NOT come with built in Wi-Fi, despite what you think the description says. You need to buy a separate Wi-Fi dongle. This is really irritating because the manufacturers description on Amazon specifically says:
"Built-In Wi-Fi
With built-in Wi-Fi, no additional cables or wires are needed to connect to your wireless home network. You can wirelessly access Samsung Apps or other Smart TV features with ease..."
I'm sorry, but I do NOT think "built-in" means "you need to buy an additional attachment." Luckily, I shuffled things around a little and was able to hard wire it in to my router. It's just irritating that the description is misleading.
This brings me to my second point: The Samsung Netflix app so far doesn't work, even after upgrading the software! I keep getting a message that the device "is not connected to the internet" even though Pandora and all of the other web related apps work. After some Googling, I realize that this is a known issue, but nobody really seems to have a solution...bummer! So, if you're getting this specifically so you can watch Netflix, be forewarned that you might be frustrated.
That said, it's super easy to set up, and the sound seems ok. I didn't have a Blu-Ray disk handy, but it played a DVD just fine. The SmartPhone remote is also a nice feature...mainly because it allows you to adjust the volume if you're in another room.
UPDATE: Samsung just sent out a firmware update that seems to have solved the Netflix issue, so now I'm a pretty big fan of this product.
