Stunning! Jun 23, 2007
By Booker At first when I got the TV hooked up I was a tad disappointed, but being a large tv owner in the past I was certain that after I was able to go through the various options and configurations, everything would be alright. And boy was it! This tv delivers a practically perfect HD picture. Marry it with an HD DVD player (I've got the XA2) or even the new Sony Blu-ray BDP-300 and the picture one gets is nothing short of brilliant. It still has some of the drawbacks of DLP, namely the confined viewing angle, but if you're into watching movies and tv programming from a more straight on angle, the Samsung blows LCD and Plasma out of the water. It's obviously not as "flat", but for the price, and the asthetic look, the Samsung LED DLP is impossible to beat... that and fully realized black levels really shred the competition.

Awesome tv Aug 13, 2007
By Jeff A. Graham
"Professional Computer Janitor"
This is not my first HD tv set, but this one has been awesome right from the beginning. I have been using it for > 1 month and it's outpaced my expectations.
HD-DVD (toshiba hd-xa2 with deepcolor) and the ps3 blu-ray (also deep color) as well as regular sources all look stunning.
Still haven't used the pc gaming 3d mode yet (and unsure if I ever will) but it's nice that it's available.
Also using the HD-DVD of digital video essentials, it was possible to tune it to pretty close (like 95% of the way), to an ISF level 1 calibration, close enough for now.
I also like the system turning on quicker.
My previous tv was a toshiba 720p dlp rear projector, I was able to see rainbows sometimes (most times not), but I was also able to 'force' myself to see them. With this set, I have tried to force myself to see the rainbows but been unable to see them so far.
All in all, a great product.

Best DLP ever!!! Nov 14, 2007
By Lester S. Palinkas
"Traveler"
This DLP HDTV has better picture and more user options than any on the market. After the initial setup screen and channel search it displayed the first HD channel and it's a good thing that I was sitting down, I could not take my eyes off of it. Crystal clear display! There were three of us in the room and we all said, WOW! The big pluses of this TV are: 1. Never have to replace any bulbs ($300.00/bulb) it's all LED. 2. No color wheel to cause any rainbow effect. 3. The latest HDMI 1.3 interface, supports the highest resolution. 4. Bluetooth enabled to support various devices.

not perfect but then no tv really is Dec 31, 2007
By Dave Baerg While color, geometry, contrast, and user flexibility excel on this set there are but 2 areas that it does not. Rainbows are still there to people who see them. Generally, people who wear eyeglasses. Wearing bifocals is worse. I fall into the latter catagory but they don't bug me. Secondly, this set falls short of producing inky blacks in scenes which have a lot of dark in them. The blacks don't "crush" per se but have a haze over them. In high contrast scenes the blacks look perfect. Would I buy it again? In a heartbeat. And I watch a lot of dark sci-fi. I don't think that DLP technology can be beat for the best skin tones, reproducing movement [remember, the speed here is in microseconds, not milliseconds like Lcd], ease of moving the tv, and the LED engine is icing on the cake. Bright, quiet, fast turn-on times, and cheap on power. No tv is perfect, but I love mine.

Audio optical output for HDMI Dec 21, 2007
By F. Parrish For those of you looking forward to using the audio optical output to connect to your receiver, beware that the 87 series will only output HDMI audio to the standard audio jacks. You would need to look at the 89 series to optical out with HDMI.
