 Worked Great at first - then failed later May 13, 2008

I replaced my Samsung DLP light after noticing the tv would turn off on its own and noticed it just was not as bright as it once was..... this unit is complete , not just a bulb , its the whole box that just slides in where your old one slides out.... super easy and now my dlp tv is super bright.
** UPDATE **
The lamp ended up having a problem of blinking on me.... I ordered one from Samsung direct and fixed the whole problem... so unfortunately the lamp only worked for a couple of months so I cannot recommend this lamp. Get it from samsung directly - its about the same price and just as easy to install.

I bought one these to replace a dimming lamp in my 50" Samsung DLP. I installed the lamp and after a few hours I started to notice a weird flickering in the picture. After a few more hours it got worse so I removed the lamp, reinstalled the old one and sent it back to Amazon for exchange. I got the replacement a few days later and installed it right away. Within a few minutes I noticed the same flicker as the previous one. So this time I boxed it up and sent it back for a refund. Between my experience, and the other review, all I can guess is that Amazon got a bad batch.

I replaced the bulb and ballast at the same time. It took me 5 minutes to swap it out and after a short warm-up time the TV was good as new!

Made the mistake of going with the low price option, now re-ordering. Do not recommend that you purchase through this vendor, would say I am the exception, but they are 3 out of 5 stars, so probably not.

Thought I was pretty smart saving $35 over the Samsung replacement lamp, but this one worked fine for about four months then began blinking off every time the TV changed from a show to a commercial, from a commercial to a show, or from one commercial to another. And wouldn't you know it? Warranty is only three months. Guess I wasn't so smart.
