Speakers Aug 06, 2010
By Greg I purchased two sets of these for mine and my friends horse trailers. May sound strange to some of you but horse trailers and some campers have speakers on the outside to listen while hangig out. I only found marine speakers for this. I had no problems with the install and they have held up great. It has been over a year now with good results. I wish they were a better sound quality but that could be my stereo etc. I would like to be able to turn them up a bit more without distortion but they are really pretty good for my application.

Excellent value -- compares with more expensive speakers Jul 04, 2010

I bought these to replace a pair of Clarion CM1625 speakers for the cockpit and the sound improvement is night and day. These are very comparable in sound to the Infinity Kappa Marine 602M (which I have inside my cabin and like very much) and maybe they're even better than the Infinity -- I couldn't use the Infinity in the cockpit due to shallow mounting space. These Pioneers are only about 2 3/8" deep which is shallower than most.
Overall I'm thrilled with the very clear and open sound -- the highs are crisp and clear, and the overall tonal balance is outstanding. The speakers they replaced sounded very constrained and "boxy" with muddy base, but these are much more open-sounding and transparent. The sound definition is very good, and the base is strong right down to the mid-base octave. Of course they are a bit weak in the deep base but that is to be expected in a 6.5" two-way -- that's what sub-woofers are for.
The hardware and construction materials are appropriate for the marine environment, contacts are gold-plated and the face of the speakers are self-sealing with a built-in rubber gasket all around.
If you buy these you won't go wrong. I have no affiliation with Pioneer or interest that might bias me in this review.
Great speakers for all around sound Mar 30, 2012
By Iceberg Bought these speakers for our SeaRay yacht. Bought two pair to put up on the bridge. They have an overall great sound. Clear highs and solid mid-range that isn't "muddy". They are powered by a Clarion amp and handle the power very well. The construction of the speakers is top notch and are sealed for marine use. If you're looking for a quality speaker with quality sound that will not break your wallet, look no further.
Excellent Product Mar 07, 2012
By incourt The speakers replaced two very expensive Sony speakers. I was very disappointed in the Sony speakers. Within two months of installing them on my boat they began to leak rust and after one and a half years they fell apart and stopped working. These Pioneer speakers have a great sound and appear to be built and have a sound much superior to the Sony's
Great speakers!!!! Jan 15, 2012
By Jason Smith I picked a set of these speakers of last year for a great price and so far they have been great. I was very surprised how clear and clean they sound. Probably not the loudest speakers on the market but they are more than enough for what I need.
