Excellent for its price Jun 06, 2009
By J. Wong These are excellent for the price you pay. I installed them myself at the front door panel, piece of cake. The passive cross-over units are molded-in so you don't need to worry abt screws comming loose. For those of you who have had high-end component system, you know what I mean. These here are just "GOOD FOR ITS PRICE". That's all I am saying. I have had better ones but of course, I have an amp driving my previous more expensive component speakers. Also, because the speaker cables on the cross-over units are molded-in, it also means that you cannot use your high end speaker cables for these speakers. But of course, it may be an over-kill to get monster-cable for these speakers. Can't help but to stress that these are good for its price... 8)
For now, I am driving these from my Head Unit (abt 20rms x 4) and the sound is REASONABLY good at AVERAGE volume. Alot also depends on whether your HU has a EQ. Mine has a 7 band EQ and I was able to tune the music to my pref, so that works for me. I have the TS-A6963R at the back panel to support these at the front. Good balance overall for a non-amp, non-fancy set up.
Next, I should be installing a 4-channel for these (i.e., including the TS-A6963R at the back). Currently, my only complain is that the road noise does drown the sound a bit when I am driving at around 80mph. Turning up the vol causes some distortion... I guess that's the limitation when you drive these speakers without an AMP; you are not getting the best out of them...
Of course, getting a sub-woofer (plus a second amp) to boost up the bass will be my third step. More then... Read my reviews for the TS-A6963R, I have installed them earlier... Cheers.

The Best out of the speakers I found for high range Feb 01, 2009
By person who exists Pros: high range - better than any i've heard. low range - just as good or better than speakers of the same size that I compared to they say they are oversized but they do fit in my honda civic with its small car door.
Cons: The cost of installation is very high. It took a few hours for these to get installed (at Best Buy). Summary: I just got these for my Honda Civic. I compared them to every speaker at different stores that I could find. These were BY FAR the best when it comes to the high range. For those who can appreciate a full range of sound in their music, I would HIGHLY recommend these. If you want a good low frequency speaker, obviously these are 6.5", but they are the best I heard for that size. The Sony speakers I heard were about as good as these for low range sound. The installation is complicated and very expensive where I took them. I never intended to try it myself. The installation will probably cost around 30-40$ more for this type with separate tweeters unless your car is already fit for it.

Pioneer TS-A1702C component speakers sound great Jul 30, 2010

I found the best price for these Pioneer speakers through Amazon. I knew I wanted a more crisp sound and componenet speakers in front were the only way to go. The TS-A1702C were priced under $100 and were promptly shipped to me. Installation was simple with the instructions printed right on the box. The wiring is configured so that you can not plug anything in wrong. Also, there is plenty of factory wiring installed on the component "brain box" to mount your cone & tweeter anywhere on the door panel you need to. The quality of the sound is very good. I am running a basic head unit w/ iPod interface thru a Pioneer 5400 760 watt 2-way amp. The speakers are rated properly for my set up and they "bump" just fine. This is not a hi-end stereo but easily blasts past any factory set-up. I recommned these speakers for a mid-level system that is not pounding too many mega-watts. Also they do come with a 1 yr warranty.
