Good enough. Not great. Oct 30, 2010
By New Englander This is OK, and some of the tricks are kind of interesting. At the least the kids will learn how some of the tricks are done. But the materials aren't really "professional quality." On one of the ropes you can easily see where there is a "hidden" connector in the center, which kind of ruins the trick. Some of the other ropes have interiors that are supposed to let the rope stand upright on end, but the interior isn't actually strong enough to have the rope stand on end. The book format is kind of a nice storage plan though, so it has a certain beauty to it, I suppose. And some of the tricks work just fine. I can't compare this to other magic sets for kids, so I don't really know if this one is tons better than the others, just average, or actually somewhat poor. I can say that my husband and my 5-year-old son have continued to work their way through all the tricks without loosing interest, in spite of the shortcomings of some of the materials. We were actually testing it out to see if we wanted to get one as a Christmas gift for my neice. In the end, we're undecided. It's not a slam dunk, but we might go ahead and get another. I do like that they have other coordinating magic sets. You could get a pretty good magic repertoire going.
