Ink Comes Off!!! Sep 06, 2011
By twinm0mmy We bought these for our 11 month old twins that LOVE music. However, after a few days, we noticed both of them were covered in black ink and could not figure out where it was coming from. We then discovered that it was the ink on their egg shakers! Who knows what is in the ink and they have been eating it for a couple of days now. :-( Very disappointed...

Super music fun Jan 31, 2011
By TwinmomMC These are great for any toddler. Our 2 year olds love to dance and make music. They are a safe choice because they're too big to swallow, and makes a noise that isn't too loud or annoying for parents.

Good toy. Mar 12, 2007
By T. Franco My 20 month old son likes these shaker eggs. He has his favorite color that he plays with the most and it fits perfectly in his little hand. I would recommend this product although don't expect your child to play with them for an extended period of time. My son picks it up, shakes it, throws it down, and moves on to something else.

Eek! Mine broke open! Apr 04, 2012
By Alison C. My 2-year-old loved this thing. Until he dropped it accidentally on the vinyl floor in the kitchen and it broke open scattering bazillions of tiny little black balls all over the floor. They were a nightmare to clean up. The little balls were so... squirrely! And I did not want the kids to eat them... what material exactly are they? Anyway, we won't be using these anymore! I guess if I really had to I would tape them!

These aren't baby rattles. Feb 09, 2012
By Joshua I don't understand the other reviews here. "My kids scraped the ink off and ate it," "My baby got bored with these."
These aren't baby rattles. They're percussion instruments. They're good percussion instruments that kids can play with, sure. But I'm in a band and was looking for shakers to use at shows. I also teach music to elementary-school aged children, and they're great for some interactive group lessons for young kids.
But they're not a toy for infants and toddlers. Nor do they claim to be.
I typically use a nicer shaker for recording, but these are easy to throw into a bag, brightly colored so you won't have to dig around for them, and they sound fine.
One of the other reviews complained that they're "sharp" sounding and slow, but it just depends on how you hold them.
