Very sad disappointment Dec 26, 2006
By Cobra I really wanted these to work. They look great and getting 10 for a hundred bucks is seemingly a great deal. However, the sad truth is they stay lighted for at best about three to four hours . . . tops. I even tried substituting the "so-so" included batteries for top of the line Radio Shack ones. Still nothing helped them. They receive direct sunlight all day long, yet I've never been able to coax anymore than three to four hours of light from them and some of them don't even come on at all sometimes. I had been warned that most of the solar type lights are highly "puffed up" as far as their ability to stay lighted for any more than a few hours but I didn't listen. The brand of Intermatic (Malibu) is fine. It's just that the solar sensors in these things just aren't strong enough to say lighted for even half the night. I'm going to be switching over to the Intermatic (Malibu) Bollard lights that are a wired system. This requires just a bit more work to install and cost a bit more but you really get what you're looking for in going that route. Those lights are well lighted and stay that way for as long as you set your timer. Even when the solar lights come on, they are barely more than very faint accent glows that really don't light much of anything around them. Like I said, I really wanted these to work out . . . but I feel it is best to caution others as to what they can expect from them.
