This outfit is adorable and my little girl loved it. However, she is a 3 Toddler, and very small for her age. It BARELY even went on her let alone was big enough to play with. Would definitely recommend buying big!

this costume is very, very cute, but not sized properly. bought a small for my 5 year old grand daughter (wears a size 4) and it was too small. So I bought a medium and WAAAAAAAAAAY too big. Ended up fitting my 8 year old grand daughter that wears a 7.

My daughter loves her Halloween costume and so do I. It is very pretty and goes beyond my expectations from what the picture shows. The blue is a great color with a nice sheen and the starfish on the bra/chest area is textured with a netting attached underneath. There are sequins on the flowing sleeves to give a "magical mermaid" feel and the seahorse, flowers painted on are bright and vibrant. There are even little flowers attached on by the tail for a 3D like effect. I liked this costume over the store bought Ariel ones because the tail is a thin layer of foam which gives it that stand out look. They don't mention this in the description and they really should as it is what sold me on it after I read a review on another site about it. I just wasn't impressed with the extra hanging fabric of other costumes which was supposed to resemble a tail. Cons: The sizing of the costume is very tricky. My daughter (fyi 2 and 1/2 years old, 35 inches tall and 28 pounds) is very tall and lean, and I couldn't imagine this fitting on an older or larger child very well. It is very difficult to get on due to the tightness. There is only a small square of velcro closure at the back of the neck to slip the costume on and you have to literally force the tail/skirt part over the body to get it down. (Be very careful as the velcro can snag the mesh of the arms/chest material very easily). The mermaid tail/skirt is kind of like a pencil skirt as it fits snugly to the body. The other odd sizing issue is, the tail in front is very long. It would not be safe for walking during trick-or-treating. I am going to have to pin it up so it doesn't drag so long in front and cause her to trip. For a one night event, the cons are minor and I still really love this costume and she does too. I can't wait to see her in her little magical mermaid costume this Halloween!

It's your typical costume, not made to be worn day in and out by an adoring fan :) but a much nicer quality than all the Ariel mermaid costumes I viewed and daughter tried on in person. We took a gamble and ordered this online (thorough the company directly and after doing a quick internet search for "coupon codes" for the company who makes this, through them we got cheaper shipping and with my coupon I found online we got 10% off. It's worth a search.
Pro's are the soft foam backed tail which as one reviewer said, gives it a stand out look. It won't drape on the child like a plain Ariel dress. It will look like a mermaid tail!
We took back several costumes because DD does not like the cheap netted mesh material most customes and play dresses are made of, they itch her, I wondered what the sheer fabric on here would be and contacted the company. I was not disappointed. The sheer fabric on the sleeves is a nice quality that is soft and smooth, not itchy. But it's secured at the back of the neck with velcrow. Sheer fabric + velcro = trouble! I am going to add a button closure on it and a loop to wrap over the button and remove the velcro. Just the action of slipping it overtop child's head on and off will catch that velcro piece on the sheer fabric and snag.
The product package shows gold sequins attached to the gold netting under the bikini top but the actual costume does not have that (no biggie). I plan to hem the seams for added durability, add a button clasp and some pearl decals for the center of the flowers. Still cheaper and less frustrating than having come up with this design on my own! Worth every penny to see my daughter's genuine delight to be a mermaid :)

The shiny metallic blue fabric on legs/tail is over a spandex type stretchable fabric. What does this mean? With movement and wear the fabric stretches but the metallic finish on top does not stretch, it just leaves small stress marks/lines on it...so far daughter hasn't noticed thank goodness, but Mom did. The velcro is very rough at the neck and sure did snag the sheer fabric sleeves so I removed it and added a pearl button and elastic loop to secure it instead---works like a charm---.
DD turned 3 upon receiving so I opted for the child's "medium" size and it fits her body perfect (don't try putting it on overhead, step into the costume---MUCH easier!). The only issue here is that it fits her perfectly except for the tail----it is to long in front (perfect in back) and hangs down over her feet, to walk she hikes it up to hold. Had we gotten the toddler size however I'm sure it would have run to small to wear.
We've only handwashed it in the tub and hung dry. Appears to be holding up well as a daily wear costume :) except for the metallic finish over the stretchy fabric of legs.

I agree with the other reviews for this product, sizing is impossible. I read how large it ran, and ended up ordering the 2T-4T size for my daughter who wears a 3T-4T. The length is right, so any larger wouldn't work, but the outfit is extremely tight on her. The package says "2T-4T, for 1-2 year olds". Since when is 2T-4T for that age range in US sizes?? No returns are allowed during Sept-Nov on Halloween costumes from this vendor, so I guess I just wasted $30. I'll be buying these in person from now on, not very happy at all.
