I had read about these new creme eyeshadows in one of the magazines within the last few months. I decided to go to the counter at the Bloomingdale's near my house. The SA at the counter said she thought based on my coloring and eyes that the rose gold would be a good choice for me. I was looking for a shadow that could be good for daytime and also nighttime. I took home the rose gold and it was really really beautiful on. Not only that, but it is long-lasting and doesn't crease. I may have to invest in one or more of the other colors available. Definitely a worthwhile purchase and the tube will last you a long time.

Subtle, Not Greasy and A Lovely Product May 28, 2007

A SHINY, metallic eye product on these old lids--uh huh--not for me! Too old, too conservative and inappropriate for my daily work and life. If I start wearing shiny eye shadow, next it will be niteclubs till dawn and throwing up in the back of taxi cabs. OK toss all those ideas and grab this product. I got the platinum and it was beautiful, lit up my whole eye area and didn't become greasy, crease or in any way look trashy. This company really know it's stuff. Buy with confidence!

Laura Mercier's Metallic Creme Eye Colour is the best eye shadow I had ever worn. I have it in Gold and will soon purchase another Gold and the Barnished Cooper. I wear this eye color every day because it lasts through out the day, no need to re-apply and no creases (which is a plus). Don't let the size or price of the tube discourage you from purchasing this product. This product should last a good six or more months depending on how much you use and you don't need to use a lot because this stuff is highly pigmented (love that). I don't regret buying it at all, it's the best creme eye shadow out there.

Hands down, this is the best cream eye shadow I have ever used. I have three in the metallic group: Alloy (shimmery taupe) and Platinum (peach champagne), and Titanium (Lavender), and five in the satinee group: Ecru, Rum Satin, Stone Suede, Cocoa Velour and Pink Chiffon.
About the colors. It's best if you go to a dept store or Sephora to see them in person. Even the Laura Mercier wesbite deos not represent the colors accurately in photos. For example, the Cocoa Velour is a washed out orangey brown color. Kinda yucky! RumSatin is a rich deep brown, and for day wear, I layer it with Ecru to lighten it up a bit. Pink Chiffon is a bit pinky, but I love it. Ecru is my go to color. I use it every day -- either as a base, or for layering, or sometimes alone with just eyeliner.
Now for how the shadow goes on:
The shadow glides on smoothly, and is very forgiving (you don't have to have the precision of a makeup artist to get it right!). It is also easy to layer two different colors: I sometimes put the platinum as a base layer and the Alloy color on top. Sometimes I mix in a powder shadow. The lasting power is excellent -- it may even be waterproof. I wear contact lenses, and have NO problems with this product drifting off into my eyes, causing irritation. Additionally, the metallic version of this shadow does not look fake in the natural light like some metallics do. Lastly, a little goes a long way. One tube lasts a while even with daily use and because it is not exposed to air, it does not dry out.
One last thing, I found that the staying power lasts a bit longer if you use a primer on the lid before applying the shadow. But even with primer, the shadow does not go the mile like a powder shadow will.

I was very disappointed by this product. It looks great when you first put it on, either alone or as an eye shadow base, but doesn't last long at all. It gets in the creases and is pretty much all worn off half way through the day. Expected a better quality product for the price I paid. I bought it hoping to be a replacement for my Clinique Touch Tint that was discontinued, but will continue my search, this doesn't compare.
