Incomplete Instructions Nov 26, 2008
By Arnim Zola This is a fun toy. What I really like about it is that it's possible for younger kids (ages 2 and up) to play. It's also cheaper than the wooden train sets from Learning Curve.
My only issue with this toy is that the instructions are incomplete. There are several structures shown on the box that are not covered in the instruction book. Not a big deal, but you should save the box for a while.

This Thomas set includes the TRACKS Aug 16, 2009
By J. Navarro Purchased this "starter set" for my 3-year old nephew because it was the only Thomas Duplo set that included the train tracks. "Start" with this set because the other (less expensive) Thomas Duplo sets only contain a train car with a few accessories. The Duplo are large & durable; perfect for small hands. It also contains a good number of pieces (windmill, signal tower, train station, Thomas, freight cars, and train tracks) for the high price. Recommended for Thomas the train fans & beginning Lego builders.

Cute, but frustrates my two year-old Jul 31, 2009
By N. Thomas The pieces are easy to put together, either by following the instructions or simply looking at the picture on the box. My son was very excited when he first started playing with this toy. Not much educational value, but it is stimulating and allows him to create lots of imaginary scenarios. However, the Thomas engine does not couple well to the train cars. They disconnect easily as my son is trying to guide the engine along the track. He gets extremely frustrated by this. I know he's only 2 and the product is for 3 year-olds and up, but I have to admit that I find it frustrating too.

Turns Out Not Just the 2 Year Old Loves it... Jul 04, 2009

I bought this for my 2 year old son's birthday - but my 4 year old also loves it, their grandpa, and me! It's fun to get down on the floor with him, build different things, then be able to do imaginative play with what we built. It was very satisfying. A great set!
Frustrating Aug 05, 2010

It would be a great set, if the train didn't disconnect from the train cars so easily. Also, the train falls apart quite easily, which is VERY frustrating for my 2,5 year old. When he is playing with this, he is pretty much screaming every couple of seconds as the trains disconnect or falls apart and he can't put it back together. My 4 year old doesn't play with it as much as he plays with wooden railway, as you can't do much with lego tracks, there are no bridges or tunnels, you can just make a circle {or two, if you get the switch tracks, that are avalaible at lego website} a go around. Fun for little kids, no so much fun for preschoolers. We have a huge box of duplo and this Thomas set is not he most popular one {even though I bought another couple of boxes of tracks - lego website has them quite cheap}.
