Nice processor Jan 12, 2009
By Brian J. Buehler

This processor is a huge step up from my 7 year old computer. While I'm very happy with my purchase, the Intel Core i7's seem like a better choice once you get into the above $200 price point.
For me, the quad core did turn out to be a much better choice than the dual core processors as I concurrently run several cpu intensive tasks at any given time. With the Q9300, nothing seems to really bog it down. Both Vista 64 and Windows 7 (beta 64) work great.

Great performance for the price Jul 14, 2008

Excellent performance for the current price. Runs cooler than my Q6600 (B3 stepping) at its higher base speed (2.5 GHz). Max OC achieved = 3.3 GHz, with 1.33V Vcore, and ZEROTherm Nirvana NV-120 HSF. Could possibly go higher, but water-cooling is required.
This CPU's dual-core competition is the E8400, but I prefer quad-core CPUs as overall PC performance in Vista is boosted by the presence of the two extra cores. The E8400 may be a bit faster in games overall, but more and more developers are optimising newer games for 2, 3 and 4-cores. I contend that multi-core CPUs are 'the future'.
All in all, highly recommended. After market HSFs (such as the excellent Thermalright Ultima 90/Ultra-120 Extreme)are also highly recommended if purchasing this CPU.

By Mr. Mahmoud Maatouk i had my desktop build for almost 2 days now and its functioning great. the quad core is working great with my 9800gtx graphic. the processing is smooth and most importantly, no heat trouble so far.

Runs HOTTTT Feb 10, 2010
By Kurt Aberle I have had this CPU for two years now. Performance is very good. It is faster than I expected at 2.5Ghz. The only problem I have encountered is how hot it runs. I have tried three different coolers, first the stock cooler, then a Freeze 7, now I have an H5O unit on it and I am still getting up to 70C and I have not overclocked it at all. But I have had it for 2 years and haven't had a problem so until I do I guess it isn't an issue.

Great company Apr 05, 2010
By Agatha Christie This arrived much quicker than promised. I then found I was unable to use the product, and sent it back. They very quickly gave me a full credit for the item, less their shipping costs.
