1Dont buy  Aug 30, 2010

Hardly a marine system. The cord used for the microphone dry rotted after one season. The "revolutionary" clamp used on the speakers broke after a two months. The sound is nice but should be considered ......junk.

4Great sound, mic is awesome, speakers not watertight  Jan 30, 2012
By B. Mathis
I put these on our boat at the beginning of last season and used them all season long. First, the sound quality is excellent. Throughout the sound range, they sound good, and we've had them cranked way up several times and they sound great at louder volumes, too.
The mic is also great, as it lets you talk to other boats (assuming they are behind or to the side of you, considering the direction the speakers point) as well as skiers or tubers you are pulling. The fact that you can adjust the mic level independent of the stereo level is also great -- you can kill the music and talk to a skier, for example. The one mistake I made when setting it all up is I had the gain level set moderately low, since we don't pump the tunes that loud typically. With it set low, I couldn't get enough mic volume to speak to a person being towed while in motion. Of course, if you turn it up, make sure to warn anyone sitting in the back seats before you talk unless you want their ears to start bleeding.
The installation steps are easy, and you don't have to know that much about stereos to connect it all up. The instructions are pretty good. However, if you want to install the mic plate, you'll have to drill a large hole in your boat for the cable and four smaller ones for the screws to secure it. Go slow, use the right drill bit, and you won't mess up your gelcoat. The speaker cables are well insulated, which is great, but it will make fishing them through a wakeboard tower quite tedious.
The look of the speakers is about what you'd expect from the pictures. They look good, if subtle -- definitely not flashy like some other speaker cans. I preferred this look, but some may not. One thing I will say, is that after hitting my head (I'm 6'2" and the tower is not a particularly high one) several times, I appreciated the plastic housing. If they were metal, I probably would have dented them and/or bled a few times.
As a final note, I noticed when I took the speakers off at the end of the season (before winterizing/storing the boat) that one of the speakers had water in it. Not a ton, but probably 1-2 oz. I hung them up at an angle and the water drained. Hopefully this won't affect them long term, as Infinity doesn't make replacement parts for consumers for these.

4Convenient & Functional Wakeboard Speaker System  Sep 15, 2011
By Michael Sobczyk
I purchased this system in June of 2009 (from another site). Was just looking for a friend who recently bought a boat and realized I had never posted a review for these speakers on Amazon. Figured why not.

So, purchased in June of 2009, installed July of 2009. They are on a Yamaha 212X. I had them installed by a car audio shop. They have worked great since then. No issues as mentioned by other posters. No dry rot or overheating of amp. I will note that our boat is always covered (shielded from the sun), but the speakers are exposed year round - sun, rain, hail, etc. - none of which seems to have affected performance. The amp is mounted up under the dash with decent airflow.

The system sounds great and we have received several compliments on sound and are usually the music for each boating tie-up. At half of retail, they are a steal for speakers, amp & mic. Don't expect these speakers to compare to Wet Sounds... You do somewhat get what you pay for, but 2 Wet Sounds and an amp will set you back $2.5k. For us though, this system is sufficiently loud and having the microphone to communicate with riders has been quite useful. I have no problem recommending this setup to someone else based on my personal experience.

1Bad Purchase - Worse Customer Service  Apr 27, 2011
By Hawkeye
Hi, I don't normally like to leave bad reviews, but I'm at a loss for what to do. I've owned this system for 2 years now. For the first 3 months, it was awesome. I followed the install manual, did everything 100%, 4 gauge power cable to the battery/ground, crimp + heat shrink connections everywhere, gold terminal fittings, the whole deal. There's not much bass in the system, but it sounded great whether I was skiing, wakeboarding or tubing. All of a sudden, one day the amp started overheating. It got hot enough that you could get a first degree burn if you touched the casing. When the amp gets hot, the sound starts skipping and ultimately turns off until the amp cools off again. I couldn't find a phone number to talk to an infinity rep anywhere. Every phone number I found, once I put in my model number, referred me to the online support website. After 2 weeks of back and forth, the e-mail tech directed me to return the existing unit and they replaced it. But, I had to return the entire package, so that meant taking the speaker wires out of the tower, pulling back up my floor trim inside the cockpit, etc... Two months later, they finally shipped the replacement system back, it was brand new, never been used. I went through the whole reinstall process. The new system works only marginally better. The new amp will stay on at a moderate volume for about 10 minutes before it overheats and shuts off. The amp is located on a bulkhead that has lots of clear airflow around and I even tried putting a fan on it. Nothing works. The worst part is that I still can't find a phone number to talk to a tech rep in person. If you are an infinity rep, please reach out to me and I'll be more than happy to remove this review.

5Infinity 6100M Rocks !!  Oct 23, 2010
By Avrohom
I was a bit hesitant to buy a packaged unit such as the 6100m but I have installed it in my Air Nautique and have found it to be a great fit.
The speakers and amp crank out plenty of great sound to be heard by the boarders and the pa system is great to help me with my boarding lessons. The volume controls on the pa mic are great as you can easily control the volume of the tower speakers without changing the other speakers in the boat and the sound is fantastic!!
I don't know why the previous reviewer had any issue with this system...
