Not what I wanted Jan 30, 2010
By Ruth Lynn Craig I had hoped for an entire system, including a base. It wasn't clear in the description whether or not there was a base, so I took a chance and bought it. No base. Sent it back.

Difficult installation Mar 15, 2010
By Mike B I did not realize that the actual pole was in 3 separate pieces. Although the instructions looked simple, they actually were quite confusing. There are a lot of pieces to this. But the final result is good. I am pleased with how it operates and its durability so far.
Good price/value. May 19, 2012
By J. Costarella Be sure to take your time and read the directions carefully as it can be a bit complex. You need 2 people to install the finished hoop in the ground. Its one heavy sucker. The adjustable hoop component is really well balanced and easy to adjust. Great feature as I have a 4 and 7 year old that have varied skills.
Great product Sep 28, 2010
By AMP Did it myself. It takes some mechanical skill and requires purring concrete. The manual is bad. But I got it to work, although the base is too low and probably water will sip in. It will probably last a few years before I will have to take the thing down. By then I hope my kids will be in college.

Like guesswork? Buy this pole Aug 07, 2010
By J. R. First, Amazon's picture for this product is terribly misleading, since it does NOT include a backboard!
Second, the directions are very poorly written. Huffy/Spalding claim this pole will work with any of their backboards, but it's up to you to guess how to put it together. I bought a 44" SlamJam backboard by Spalding, and none of the instructions for the backboard or pole seemed to jive. Worse, the closest approximation had no numbered diagrams. Customer service, while friendly, was of no help whatsoever.
If you enjoy wasting your time trying to interpret directions, this is the perfect gift.
