Description:

The StreetPilot 7200's huge 7-inch touch-screen display means you'll always see where you're going, from anywhere in the vehicle. Designed for larger vehicles such as RVs, semi-trucks, and buses, it is a premium automotive unit that comes preloaded with City Navigator NT detailed maps of North America. With the purchase of an optional sensor (not included), the unit notifies the driver of accidents, road construction and weather-related traffic delays before they are encountered (requires subscription, traffic service only for select cities where coverage exists). Either of two optional purchase sensors can provide these features, the GTM 10 FM TMC traffic sensor or the GXM 30 Smart Antenna (separate purchase required). In addition to traffic data, the GXM 30 provides real-time satellite weather information. The 7200 model features all of Garmin's well-known GPS functions, including intuitive navigation and automatic route calculation; voice-prompted, turn-by-turn directions; 2D or 3D map view; and automatic rerouting if a motorist strays off course. With its POI Loader software, users can load custom points-of-interest such as school zones or safety cameras. The StreetPilot 7200 also includes entertainment options, including an internal MP3 player, XM radio, and playback of audio books. The built-in MP3 player lets users browse music by artist, album, song, or genre. The XM Radio (with the optional GXM 30 Smart Antenna and XM Satellite Radio subscription - not included) features 150-plus channels of commercial-free entertainment. The StreetPilot 7200 is also compatible, a subscription-based audio book service. The face of the StreetPilot 7200 only has one button, an on/off switch. 1Do not buy ... before you read this. this is old unit.  May 24, 2010
Firstly, please make sure that you realize that this unit is 7 years old and thusly does not have the functionality that you would think it would have.

I purchased this by mistake thinking it was a newer model.
Upon receiving the item I was immediately disappointed for 2 reasons:
1) I realized that the XM radio feature only worked if you purchased a $200 ( additional ) antenna.
2) That it did not have a battery so if you unplug it or turn off your car you will lose all of your information

After 1 month the original stopped working.
I got the replacement and after 2 months that one stopped working.

When I went to return it per manufacturer waranty I was told that since it was such an old model that I would only get a refurbished one. So for the most part I paid for a used device.

The people at garmin were unhelpful and unfriendly and non-sypathetic. It took me 45 minutes to get through to their support number and they could not do anything without a serial number that I didnt have. They were unwilling to take the item back or do anything else to help the situation.

I will personally never buy a garmin again because of the lack of customer support.

Please do some reasearch before purchasing this device.

5GREAT PERFORMER  Apr 29, 2010
I read the reviews and painfully tried to decide which unit was for me. As a first time buyer of a GPS unit it wasn't easy. One of my first concerns was getting a large screen. But, was a seven inch screen too big for a Honda CRV. No, absolutely not! How is the sound and speaker quality? Very good! Speed of satellite acquisition? Excellent! Reliability - Does it give accurate directions? Yes! Does it need it's own batteries? No!
As I looked through all the reviews I was trying to find a unit that people had no complaints about. That didn't happen. If you're a seasoned Amazon buyer/researcher you know there's always unhappy people. So far my Garmin 7200 StreetPilot has performed almost flawlessly. In fact, I do expect it to occasionally make errors. I can live with that. But overall, it's a great product with a lot to offer. While reading the reviews I learned that this was a discontinued model. That really didn't bother me. But my suggestion to you when you're considering buying a discontinued model, is to act fast. I paid a little more than I wanted to pay. I paid $400.00 for my StreetPilot about three months ago. It is now on sale for $800.00. In other words. The price has doubled in about three months. Think how I would feel if I fell in love with it and waited a little too long? Now, I feel like the unit is very good and am glad I bought it when I did. Of course, now the question is if this unit is worth $800.00 and still climbing? Maybe. But I would no longer be able to afford it.
UPDATE: August 16, 2010- Unit is still working great. I just wanted to add that the Gillson 3 ft. remote antenna for $20 is a good addition. On those rare occasions when driving through a dense forest area or between very tall buildings I would briefly loose satellite contact. With this inexpensive addition that problem is eliminated. It now gets a very fast lock on multiple satellites and keeps it.

3good but dont last long  Mar 14, 2010
this was the first GPS i bought on amazon, it was very good until the screen started going off while i was driving. had to pull over to try to turn it back on and go back on my way. the gps doesn't go off but just the screen, like you would hear the instruction but not se the map on the screen. i guess this was a sign of it not working at all very soon, because a month later it stopped working, completely
i have to admit the directions are very accurate and unlike the GPS i have right now, this would tell you where you destination is (wether it is on the left or right, and would routing would stop only when you arive at the destination) the one i have right now works great but wont take you exactly to you destination

5BEST GPS  Mar 01, 2010
I bought this unit for our motorhome. Most of the reviews have listed all the features so I will not repeat them, but my two favorites are large screen and the voice naming the streets. This is one great unit. Not for small cars due to huge screen size. I don't think any units made have a larger screen. If you need "big" then this is the unit for you. Because the voice names the streets you can keep your eyes on the road almost all of the time. You won't be disappointed.

5Garmin StreetPilot 7200 7 Inch GPS from Amazon.com  Feb 11, 2010
I purchased this GPS to use in my motorhome. It has surpassed all my expectations. I especially like the size of the screen. It is very user friendly and the programming is very easy to master. I would recommend it to any first time buyer and also any old time gps user. The support is great if you have any kind of a problem. I also purchased from Amazon.com a second mount so that I could move the unit to a second vehicle. Very easy to move from vehicle to vehicle. If I need a second one it will be another 7200 Garmin.
