5Simplicity is the best  Mar 02, 2010
By Ryan Adler "Ryanocerous"
I bought this D.A.C. in order to keep my room quiet while my roommate was sleeping while still enjoying my movies and music. First off, Unique products had the delivery estimated for a week from order date, I received it in two shipping days, awesome shipping performance from the seller.

After fiddling with settings and talking with customer service from the seller, I have got this working. It works fantastic, and sounds absolutely fantastic with headphones, converting the optical audio out on my Samsung LED to my analog headphones without issue.

If you are thinking about buying a new television that doesn't have a headphone port, I highly recommend this product!

5Very flexible D to A converter  Nov 05, 2010
By Steve Alcorn "Author and Online Instructor"
This perfectly solved the problem when I needed to connect headphones to my HDTV that had no headphone or analog audio outputs. It has a great variety of inputs and outputs, and it simply works, without any fancy configuration. Excellent product.

5Great to connect headphones to optical audio output on HDTV  Oct 10, 2010
By Helen Feddema "Access Archon"
When I got my LG HDTV, I found that it didn't have a standard miniplug connector, so I couldn't plug in my headphones. This device (with an HDMI cable, which you need to purchase separately) lets me do that. The cable plugs into the Digital Optical Audio Output connector on the TV, and the other end into the converter, and the headphone miniplug connector plugs into the converter (there are several other types of connectors, too). Audio volume is controlled with a knob on the converter, which is mildly annoying (I can't change the volumn or mute from the remote), but I can live with that.

4Works as published. Minor nit-pick. Basically happy.  Dec 01, 2011
By Doddering Brit "Spike"
I'm retired, I rarely write reviews and I'm not in the pay of anyone. This product has worked flawlessly for some months, and was easy to set up. How many things are this simple nowadays?

The product arrived quickly, and the device worked as published right out of the box. This is not a flimsy, marginal, take-your-chance kind of purchase. Neither is it a bleeding-edge product. It's just a solid, simple box.

I wanted to connect a flat screen TV to some earphones. The earphone only had a 3.5mm stereo plug. Many modern TVs don't have this kind of socket now. So I used the fiber-optic output from the TV to hook up the gadget. I chose the fiber-optic only because I had a spare fiber-optic cable to hand. I have not tested the other inputs, but I assume they work properly too.

Once I had figured how to get the TV to spit audio out of the fiber-option output, and turned up the volume, the gadget worked right away.

NIT-PIKS: I have three very minor nitpiks, both of which probably stem from the context of my application:

My hearing is no longer 100%, so I'd appreciate a little more oomph from the amplifier. But on full volume it's still OK for me and apparently undistorted. It is certainly adequate for all but deafest old coots.

The audio outputs are on the front of the unit, instead of grouped with the inputs on the rear. This is probably OK for most people, but it made for an untidy appearance under my TV where I'd like all the wires to disappear out the back. Shame there are not outputs on both ends.

As you can see in their picture, the box is rounded. This means that it won't stand on it's edge. Neither could I stack another little box (IR relay) on top.

Summary: good solid product, works as advertised, no qualms about endorsing.

5Ultra High Quality Audio  Jul 20, 2010
By Graceful Raven "Ben"
Well for quite a few months, I had been looking to upgrade my sound system only to be able to listen to my Movies and Music through headphones, or earbuds. Through the months I've been shopping, I finally done a search for a Digital to Analog converter and came accross this device with a Headphone amplifier and made the purchase right away. It is perfect for what little space I have available.

The sound quality is Crystal Clear, even when connected to my Personal Speakers. I believe this could also be nicely complimented even by an Audiophile. Plus with the Long cord I already had it can also be place anywhere I need it.

I really love this converter and would Highly recomend it to anyone.
