5Free Calibration  Aug 19, 2007
By Arthur H. Cooper "TDC Genesis"
I love my Submariner Oyster Perpetual Date. A Rolex must be calibrated to it's owner. A Rolex will run fast or slow depending on you.
Ask your Jeweler.

She/he will set you up on A CALIBRATION PROGRAM. It may take 1-3 visits to get it tweaked to you.
I am not suprised at these comments.......a fine jeweler would inform one of the calibration process.
If you want/need a Rolex by all means, use a reputable fine jeweler/dealer.

5Tops for what it is  Jan 06, 2008
By GG "gg reviews"
The major consumer magazine gave the Rolex an excellent review about 2 years ago and I concur. First, if as someone stated, their Rolex is off by 30 seconds a day, it is out of specs and Rolex will repair it. That same magazine gave it very high marks for accuracy. A Rolex is a piece of jewelry that is hand made beautifully, and tells time as well as is possible for a mechanical / automatic winding watch. It is truly water resistant and the currently used crystal is almost indestructible. I have had mine for about 10 years and I wear it 24 hours a day, every day. It still shine like fine jewelry, which you won't get after a year or two with a copy, let alone after 10 years. The sweep second hand, fit and finish, and durability carry old world beauty. Maybe it can't be appreciated by some high tech only people, but this is one techy who truly appreciates it. Yes, they are expensive and not for everyone, but if you can appreciate it and have the money, it is worth it. Faces and hands can be changed by Rolex any time you want and when cleaned and checked after about 5 year, it comes back looking like it is brand new.

5Beautiful watch that keeps great time.  Feb 13, 2008
By J. Walker
I am always bewildered by the occassional statements of Rolex owners that complain of their watch's inaccuracy. For Rolex and other great Swiss watches that have certified movements, the certification is from Contrôle Officiel Suisse des Chronomètres (COSC), the Official Swiss Chronometer Testing Institute, which is the institute responsible for certifying the accuracy and precision of wristwatches in Switzerland. The standard for COSC as a chronometer is -4/+6 seconds per day. This figure will be consistent wheather it is fast or slow. Any Rolex owner with a COSC certified chronograph movement, that isn't keeping time within standards, simply needs to have it timed by a Rolex technician. I have a submariner that has been a nearly daily wear watch for 20 years. It has been within COSC specs, +1 second per day, for 20 years. I remember when I bought it new, the Rolex technician explained the mechanism to me and said it is nearly impossible to make a watch run at 0, and since nobody wants a watch to run slow, it is safer to time the watch for 1 second fast.

5Victor 007  Feb 12, 2008
By Vincent Johnson "VICTOR 007"
I love my Rolex, I love it for it's style and the feeling that can only be achieved with elegance. I know people wonder how can one justify paying thousands of dollars for a time piece, but it's all about the being good to yourself and loving quality and style !

My watch has never lost time as long as I wear it, but she is a jealous mistress and so when I wear one of my other watches for more then 48 hours my Rolly may stop. Other then that the service, performance and support of my Rolex and the Rolex Brand is tremendous !!

4Looks Great but Run Fast  Aug 18, 2007
By L. Charles Wimer III
This is great looking watch for a bigger individual. I'm slightly over 6 feet 1 and weighs about 225 and I've had lots of compliments about my Rolex. I've had mine for 3 years and I wear it all the time -- shower, in the ocean and on the golf course. The only problem with it is that it tends to run fast and beware of 40 hour guarantee of not to stop -- mine is maybe 9 hours. I paid $6300 for mine, so obviously buying the watch has proven to be a sound investment. But I will be honest, my four year old Seiko runs better and looks just as nice but the bottom line -- it isn't a Rolex. For some reason, I will go to my grave with my Rolex.
