The fourth doll in the Legends of Ireland Collection is inspired by Deirdre of Ulster, a magnificent beauty whose tragic story made her a legendary heroine of Irish folklore. Deirdre was brought up in seclusion by Conchobar, King of Ulster, who planned to marry her when she was of age. Instead, she fell in love with a handsome warrier named Naisi, fleeing with him to Scotland, but the happiness was short-lived: Conchabar had an ill-fated plan in store. Naisi was killed, and Deirdre, who is also sometimes referred to as Deirdre of the Sorrows, later died from grief. This heartbreaking tale of eternal love results here in a beautiful doll with cascading red hair and a Celtic-inspired gown.

5collector barbie, Deirdre not a toy  Jan 10, 2009

This doll was purchased as a gift for my 21 year old daughter, Deidre. She was named for this character, and we have followed the Deirdre legend since her birth. She desperately wanted this doll, but at $300.00 dollars this is not a toy and is for collectors only. Against my better judgemant I purchased the doll anyway. The excitement and joy on my Deidre's face upon seeing the doll was worth every penny. It was a very special gift for a very special girl.

A mesmerizing doll for the discerning Barbie doll collector. I could not believe how stunning this doll really is until it finally arrived and I was holding it in my hands. It is definitely the most beautiful doll created in the Legends of Ireland series. Also, the seller greatpaperskies took great care to use a sturdy shipping box and packaging to minimize damages along the way as well as sending this prized item Insured via USPS. Job well done!
