5Perfect.  Dec 31, 2009

I bought this for use with my Wii. I have a DVI Computer monitor I use as an HDTV and I can only use HDMI for plugging in Devices, so the Wii's Component wouldn't work for me. I'm currently using this at 480p. Works like a charm. There is no lag in the picture. And it seems like it doesn't loose any quality as well. Anyone interested in getting a Component to HDMI converter should go with this one. I've shopped around and most converters are between 2-3 times as expensive.

4Great product!!  Jan 05, 2010
By Arthur James "AJ"
I bought this converter to be able to record PS3 720p component footage with the Hauppage HD PVR (which can't record 1080p component, nor HDMI; it can record 1080i though but I like 720p better)
My setup is the folowing: component to PVR, component to converter input with the PVR loop (extra, good quality component cables supplied with PVR) and HDMI output to my PC screen with HDMI input.
I must say I am impressed with the quality, as I can't see any difference with my previous HDMI setup.

What IS noticable on my (FULL-HD) 22 inch pc screen are some black lines at the top when using 480i, 576i and 1080i output. These lines do not show up when using 720p/1080p, so they shouldn't show up when using 480p either.
As the wii supports 480p, (and I think the PS2/GC do too), and the X360 and PS3 support 720p/1080p, IF these lines show up they are easily worked around by changing resolution.

One more note, this device has a little output switch that changes the LED from blue to red light, upon reading other reviews this seems to have something to do with HDMI handshaking and it's best to leave the switch on blue.

All in all I think this is a great quality product, it seems quite rigid and it shoud last quite a while. The output is much better than I expected.

5Perfect! This works flawlessly  Jun 30, 2009

For the price, you can't beat this. I am successfully converting my XBOX 360 component video/optical audio signal to HDMI with this device.

converts component to hdmi without a problem. Allows you to add digital audio to the video to send true HDMI to HDTV.

5works great for xbox 360, however  Feb 16, 2010
By A. Walser
I bought this product because I have an older xbox 360 that doesn't have HDMI and I just bought a great Samsung LED tv that has mostly HDMI inputs. This product works great but I just wanted to let anyone know who is thinking about doing the same thing for their older xbox to also purchase an optical cable. This doesn't convert analog to digital, however on the back of the xbox there is an optical cable adapter that you can plug into this to also give you sound. If you don't get the optical cable, you will only get the picture. So my recommendation is to purchase this item, just don't forget the optical cable.
